Changes Overview
The Government of the Philippines has announced reforms that will change the Social Security System (SSS) pension program. The reforms will benefit retirees and disabled individuals in terms of financial support, as the cost of living is increasing. The changes will be implemented in December 2024.
Pension Payments Increase

The contribution level is also changed to 14% as follows: 8.5% by employers and the balance by the employee, aiming at building a more sizable pension for future beneficiaries.
Payment Distribution and Services
The pension payments are dispersed according to a proper schedule, which is based on social security numbers. The money will be paid in two batches every month, thus distributed timely. Moreover, SSS has enhanced its services, which help in faster and effective claims processing, thereby better customer satisfaction.
Improved Health Programs
Other than these adjustments made to the economy, the SSS is also working on healthcare programs for the pensioners. The aim here is improving physical and mental well-being and hence overall wellness for beneficiaries. The pension scheme also enables a retirement extension of the work period up to 65 years, making life even more flexible after retirement.
