The Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA) strives to work for the benefit of its citizens. Here is a list of plans introduced by the Canadian government to provide relief to those in need:
Canada Child Benefit (CCB)
The CCB is a tax-free monthly payment to assist families with the cost of raising children under the age of 18 for the costs of food, child care costs, and education. The amount of the benefit depends on household income; you can find out if you are eligible using CRA’s My Account service.
CPP:
Retirees and disabled CPP recipients will be paid monthly on November 27, 2024. The highest amount of CPP payable for that month of 2024 would have been $1,770, but it could be higher or lower based on eligibility and age.
OAS/GIS:
Both of these support the purpose of assisting seniors who are 65 years old and above, but GIS is more like an add-on for low-income seniors. Also, it is due on November 27, 2024, and shares a fraction of the heavy financial burden that daily expenses bring.
Ontario Trillium Benefit (OTB) –
OTB will give Ontario residents support towards the costs of living, which includes the cost of property taxes and energy bills. The benefit will consolidate the Ontario Energy and Property Tax Credit, the Sales Tax Credit, and the Northern Ontario Energy Credit into one monthly allowance.
Alberta Child and Family Benefit (ACFB) –
This is a quarterly payment targeted to assist low-income families with children in Alberta. Its due date is November 27, 2024. It goes a long way in the education and healthcare costs for the family.
Goods and Services Tax (GST)/HST Credit –
No date for November is set. That is simply because it’s a quarterly payout to try and offset the cost of GST/HST for more needy Canadians.
Set Up Direct Deposit:
You’ll receive your money on time, simply because you selected direct deposit and therefore your benefit monies will automatically go into your bank account right on the due date. You can do this yourself, at CRA My Account by way of “Manage direct deposit.”
Track Payments Through CRA My Account:
An online service with CRA My Account allows recipients to view the status of benefits, find past payments, and even make changes.
Missed Payment Action:
If the account information is correct and only the payment is missing, directly contact CRA to see what could be done. S/D: Check my CRA My Account for any updates or discrepancies.
