Recently, the government issued new rules regarding the leaves of employees. In these rules, it has been mentioned that if an employee takes leave for several days together, he will be sacked from the job. At the same time, the government has also released information about extra leaves.
Similarly, it has made its clarifications regarding different types of leaves like leave travel concession, leave encashment, paid leave, etc. Let us know all about these new instructions regarding leaves by the government.
The government clarified its stand on these leaves.
Normally, complaints are there regarding the waste of time doing rounds and pending work at Government offices. Most of the times, employees are not available for duty. Hence, the government has recently cleared the doubt regarding the varieties empanelment under different categories of employees.
It includes leaves pertaining to various types of employees. In addition, there are also other leaves such entitlement, leave travel concession, leave encashment, EL encashment, paternity leave (rules in paternity leave). With this decision of the government, the work of the public will be done on time and transparency will also be increased in government functioning.
Exemption granted to these employees
The government has specified that if an employee has been absent from work for five consecutive years, his/her service would automatically be terminated. However, this does not apply to service under foreign affairs.
Likewise, if a government worker in another department has not availed his leave for more than five years, then the government considers him to have resigned from his post. According to this rule and instruction, no government employee should go on continuous leave for five years or more.

Many employees demanded that their leaves also be paid with the salary, so the government has clarified this by providing that if the employees wanted to be paid salaries while on leave, they would seek the necessary approval to encash leaves. In some cases, it is believed that encashment of leave can also take place beyond the duration provided. But rules must also be followed in this respect.
These leaves are given to women employees
Government office provisions of leaves differ for women and men. In case a female employee requires a leave of absence to take care of her child, she will be entitled to child care leave. If the child is studying abroad or she needs to travel overseas to care for him, such a situation would need completion of certain standard requirements before she could take leave.
There is allowance for study leaves too
It is said by the government that if a person goes for leave for studies, then in the entire service period the employee will be eligible to take 24 months of leave. With this, there is also multiple option to avail the leaves; it could be clubbed or could be availed separately.
However this rule is slightly different for the employees of Central Health Service. The employees are given a year’s extra time for study leave, i.e. 36 months as compared to others. This way, all the rules concerning study leaves have been laid down by the government.
